Frequently Asked Questions About Brazilian Bikini Wax
WHAT IS A BRAZILIAN BIKINI WAX?
ALL hair is removed from bikini top and sides. All hair is removed from the labia area through to the top of your bottom.
WHAT CAN I DO TO PREPARE?
Gently exfoliate the night before or take a warm bath to prep the skin before your wax. Having a warm bath or shower before your wax can soften your skin allowing for easier hair removal. Exfoliating the night before removes dead skin build up around and in the follicle aiding in easier and more thorough hair removal.
HOW LONG SHOULD I WAIT AFTER I'VE SHAVED?
3-4 weeks is recommended. Your hair needs to be at least 1/4 of an inch(the length of a grain of rice) to be removed. If you come in prematurely you may not achieve a desirable result.
IS IT OK TO SHAVE INBETWEEN APPOINTMENTS?
Waxing slows down and reduces hair growth. Hair also grows much thinner thus making it easier to remove and less painful when waxed. Shaving just one time in between will negate all that is gained from waxing and can further irritate follicles which can cause ingrown hair. So, no, we don’t advise shaving in between.
DOES IT HURT?
There is some discomfort involved, however most women find it quite tolerable. Our estheticians work quickly and because of our proprietary technique the pain is greatly minimized.
CAN I USE A NUMBING CREAM BEFORE MY WAX?
Numbing creams can interfere with the application of the wax or in some situations cause an allergic reaction. So please avoid numbing creams or sprays.
CAN I GET A BRAZILIAN WAX WHILE I'M ON MY PERIOD?
Yes! but keep in mind your skin will be more sensitive 4 days before, 4 days after and the days during your cycle. Be sure to shower and wear a fresh tampon for your appointment:-)
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTERWARDS?
The waxed skin might be tender for up to 48 hrs. We advise taking Ibuprofen to decrease inflammation and skin sensitivity 20 mins before your appointment.
HOW LONG DOES A BRAZILIAN WAX TAKE?
Our experienced estheticians move quickly. The Brazilian itself should take no longer than 10 to 15 min.
WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT INGROWN HAIRS AND BREAKOUTS?
Exfoliating in the shower with a body scrub everyday helps to keep the skin free from cellular buildup which can trap hair. We carry an antiseptic cream available for purchase which helps to prevent the skin of ingrown hair, restricts swelling, takes away redness and helps to prevent breakouts.
IS WAXING SANITARY?
Yes! In concern for your health we never double dip our wax sticks. Never!!
ARE THERE ANY TOPICAL CREAMS OR MEDICATIONS THAT I SHOULD AVOID PRIOR TO GETTING WAXED?
Yes! Internal Medication such as Accutane and topicals that include Retin-A, Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid,Differin,Tazorac,Avage,Strivectin,Renova,ProActive,Avita,Benzoyl Peroxide. All of the above mentioned can enhance skin sensitivity that could lead to lifting of the skin when removing hair.
DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT?
Yes. All appointments are booked here, online.
ARE THERE ANY AGE RESTRICTIONS?
All services may be performed on clients from 15-17 years of age with a signed parent consent form. We do not offer the Brazilian wax service to clients under the age of 15, however all other waxing services are available with a signed parent consent form and accompanied by a parent for the service.
DO YOU WAX MEN?
Yes. All of our waxing services are available to men.
HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS OF A BRAZILIAN WAX LAST?
Hair cycles vary from person to person. Results after a brazilian wax usually last 4-6 weeks. If you are a person that normally shaves it is possible your hair may grow in days after a wax. This happens bc ALL of your hair hadn't grown out before your wax appointment. We suggest not shaving in-between appointments and staying consistent. After a few sessions you will start to see your hair thin and growth will slow significantly.
CAN I GET WAXED IF IM PREGNANT?
Yes, but speak with your doctor. Keep in mind your skin is SUPER sensitive during pregnancy and there will be a little discomfort. We do not recommend a full brazilian wax after 5 months as your skin is just too sensitive and engorged.
WHAT KIND OF WAX DO YOU USE?
We use both HARD & SOFT wax. Our zinc oxide soft wax helps to minimize redness and is specially formulated for sensitive skin. Soft wax removes your hair from the follicle, exfoliates your skin and is removed with a strip of fabric. Our hard wax is formulated with tea tree oil which helps to prevent breakouts. Hard wax only attaches to your hair and is removed after it hardens.
IS IT OK TO BRING MY CHILD OR PARTNER?
There are absolutely no children or extra people allowed during your appointment.
